What is an Adrenal Cocktail?
By now, if you’ve been on the internet at all, you’ve probably heard of the beloved Adrenal Cocktail. To put it simply it is a drink that replenishes your adrenals by providing your body with minerals in a quick and easy way. Read on to hear more, or skip to the recipe!
The Adrenal Cocktail is like a nutrient-packed boost for your body, designed to nourish and support adrenal health in a simple, easy-to-drink formula. Packed with vital minerals and whole food nutrients, this drink provides your body with the key elements it needs to manage stress and promote overall adrenal function.
At the heart of the Adrenal Cocktail are three essential ingredients: Sodium, Potassium, and Whole Food Vitamin C. These nutrients work together to support the adrenal glands on a cellular level, helping them respond effectively to stress. The electrolytes—Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, and Calcium—play a critical role in maintaining optimal adrenal function, as they help balance fluids and support a wide range of bodily processes.
The adrenal glands secrete hormones that are crucial not only for regulating stress but also for maintaining your body’s pH balance and assisting liver function. These complex processes are fueled by the electrolytes and the naturally occurring Vitamin C from whole food sources found in the cocktail.

How We Incorporate Adrenal Cocktails As a Family
I personally love drinking Adrenal Cocktails during pregnancy—especially as an afternoon pick-me-up or to help wake me up after a nap. It’s been so helpful when I’m running low on energy. As a mom it really does give me life on days I’m feeling sluggish, I like to call it my nap in a cup. My husband, a professional basketball player, swears by having one every day for recovery and to keep his energy levels up during training and even games. We also give them to our kids, particularly on days they miss a nap, and it’s amazing how much it helps them stay energized and focused.

Is there alcohol in this cocktail?
No. The adrenal cocktail is actually more so a mocktail, the person who originally created it gave it the name of adrenal cocktail, so to keep it simple – I also keep that original name!
Add-in
If you’re like me, you like to get the most out of everything you consume, and that doesn’t stop at the beverages you intake. You do not have to have any add-in’s, and I don’t add something in every time, but I do like to add extra nutrients when I feel the need! Keep in mind, some of the add-in’s may change the taste of the adrenal cocktail. Here are some that I like to use whenever I make my adrenal cocktails:
#1: Collagen – Collagen powder supports skin elasticity, hydration, and a youthful appearance while strengthening hair and nails. It promotes joint health by maintaining cartilage and can aid gut health by repairing the intestinal lining. Easy to add to daily routines, it’s a versatile supplement for overall wellness. I use Perfect Supplements brand, but any brand you like is fine!
#2 The Beauty Molecule – Hydroxytyrosol + Hyaluron – Hydroxytyrosol and hyaluronic acid both offer unique benefits when consumed, supporting overall health and wellness:
- Hydroxytyrosol: Found in olives and olive oil, this powerful antioxidant helps reduce oxidative stress, supports cardiovascular health, and promotes skin health by protecting against free radical damage. Its anti-inflammatory properties may also enhance immune function and support healthy aging.
- Hyaluronic Acid: Known for its ability to retain moisture, drinking hyaluronic acid supports skin hydration and elasticity from the inside out, reducing dryness and promoting a plump, youthful appearance. It may also benefit joint health by supporting lubrication and cushioning in connective tissues.
#3 Orac + Camu Camu – ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) and Camu Camu are both known for their potent antioxidant benefits and overall health-boosting properties:
- ORAC: This measure of antioxidant capacity reflects a food’s ability to combat oxidative stress. Consuming high-ORAC foods or supplements can help neutralize free radicals, reduce inflammation, and protect against chronic diseases like heart disease and neurodegenerative disorders.
- Camu Camu: A superfruit native to the Amazon, Camu Camu is exceptionally rich in vitamin C, providing immune support, collagen production for skin health, and enhanced energy levels. It also contains other antioxidants like flavonoids and polyphenols, which further support anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects.
#4 Bee Pollen – I like to add in a teaspoon and let dissolve before drinking. Bee pollen is a nutrient-rich superfood that offers a range of health benefits:
- Rich in Nutrients: Packed with vitamins, minerals, proteins, and antioxidants, bee pollen supports overall health and vitality.
- Boosts Energy: Its carbohydrates, proteins, and natural sugars provide a natural energy boost, helping combat fatigue.
- Supports Immunity: Antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds help strengthen the immune system and fight off free radicals.
- Aids Digestion: Enzymes in bee pollen assist in breaking down and absorbing nutrients more efficiently.
- Reduces Allergies: When consumed regularly, local bee pollen may help the body build resistance to allergens, reducing seasonal allergy symptoms.
- Promotes Skin Health: Its nutrients and antioxidants nourish the skin, promoting healing and reducing inflammation.
- Supports Hormonal Balance: Bee pollen contains phytonutrients that may help regulate hormonal activity.
#5 Elderberry Syrup – whenever I feel like I need an extra boost of immunity I will add some elderberry syrup to my adrenal cocktails. If using elderberry syrup, try it without the honey in the recipe, the elderberry syrup might make it sweet enough for you, if not add a little extra honey in to taste!
Elderberry syrup is a powerful natural remedy known for boosting the immune system and supporting overall health. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and anti-inflammatory properties, it helps combat colds, flu, and other respiratory infections while reducing the severity and duration of symptoms. Additionally, its antiviral compounds may enhance the body’s defense against seasonal illnesses, making it a popular choice for immune support year-round.
When it comes to add-in’s all you need to do is add the recommended dose to your adrenal cocktail and stir it in! I typically only add in one of the add-in’s whenever I make mine.
Ingredients
1 large orange, juiced
1 small lemon, juiced
1 lime, juiced
1-2 Tablespoons raw honey, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup sparkling water
Ice, optional
Instructions
- In a shaker or small pitcher, combine the citrus juices, raw honey, sea salt, and cream of tartar. Shake or stir well, until everything is combined.
- Add in the sparkling water and give a light stir.
- Then, in a glass, add in ice.
- Pour in the citrus juice blend into the glass.
- Garnish with any leftover citrus and enjoy!
Notes
- I like using S. Pellegrino for the sparkling water in this recipe, but feel free to use your favorite sparkling water!
- Using a high quality sea salt is important for this recipe and I personally use Crucial Four. If you already have a high quality sea salt that you prefer, go ahead and use that! If not, you can use the code: TAYLORG to save you 10% on the Crucial Four Icelandic Flake Salt, if they are out of stock I will then go for their Polar White Sea Salt, both are good! I can’t stress this enough, but having a high quality sea salt makes all of the difference, not just in this recipe, but in your overall diet.
- When squeezing your citrus fruits, the best way to get all of the juice out it to first roll the citrus against a hard surface using your palm. Cut your citrus fruit in half, then place the fruit cut side first into your citrus juicer and squeeze until all of the juice comes out.
- I like using a cocktail shaker or a mason jar with a lid for this recipe, but if you don’t have one a frother works good too. You could also just stir with a spoon, but with the honey and cream of tartar it doesn’t come out as smooth.
