It’s that time of year, peach season, and well, summer! Which means this delicious sorbet makes for the perfect summer treat. With just a few simple ingredients you’ll have the most perfect peach sorbet to cool off with!

What will I need?

  • Fresh Peaches – You can use frozen peaches too to enjoy this summer treat all year long!
  • Raw Honey – To sweeten this delicious treat.
  • Milk – Makes for a smoother texture
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice – Just a touch to enhance the peach flavor.
  • Lemon (or Lime) Zest – Optional, but worth it!
  • Kosher salt – just a pinch, and it’s optional!

Can I use already frozen peaches?

Yes, absolutely! You will just skip the first step and freezing time, and go straight to blending all of your ingredients.  I personally just like using fresh peaches while they are in season, but frozen peaches do the job as well!

What kind of sweetener can I use?

This recipe calls for honey, I like using raw honey! However, you can use sugar, pure maple syrup, agave nectar, etc. And if you want to go sugar free, that’s an option as well. If you go sugar free, this peach sorbet recipe may be a little tart, but it’s not a big deal to leave the sugar out if that’s okay with you! Feel free to adjust the sugar ratio to your preference. I personally don’t like my sorbet too sweet – I don’t want the sugar to drown out that peachy goodness! But if you prefer it to be more sweet, taste test as you blend and feel free to add more as you go!

What kind of milk should I use?

I love using raw milk, but you can use any milk of choice! Coconut milk is a great option if you want to add a little bit of a tropical flavor to your homemade peach sorbet. Feel free to also use almond milk, oat milk, etc.

Can I use a blender?

Yes you can! If you don’t have a food processor you can absolutely use a bender. If you don’t have a heavy duty blender, it might take a little more time and a tamper stick to get the smooth consistency, but you will eventually get there!

Do I have to use a loaf pan?

Nope! You can use any freezer safe container.

Do I need an ice cream maker?

No, for this recipe you will not need an ice cream maker! Just a few simple ingredients, and a food processor/blender.

Do I have to use frozen peaches?

Yes, for the best results the peaches need to be frozen. It’s really hard to achieve a creamy sorbet if the peaches are not frozen beforehand.

Can I use other fresh fruit?

Yes! That’s the best part of making anything yourself.  You can add in any other fruits that you would like.

Do I have to peel the peaches?

No, if you would like to keep the peels on the peaches, feel free to leave them on, that’s totally up to you! But it is definitely not required to peel those ripe juicy peaches!

Ingredients

  • 5 medium-size peaches, pitted and diced
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 teaspoons lemon or lime zest (optional)
  • Salt, pinch (optional)

Instructions

  • Peel and remove the pits from the peaches and then slice. Transfer them to a freezer bag or freezer-safe container then place them in the freezer and allow them to completely freeze! Up to 5 hours, or overnight.
  • Once they are frozen, remove them from the freezer and transfer to a food processor or blender.
  • If the peach slices are stuck together, you can let them defrost for about 10 minutes or until they are able to break loose.
  • Add the honey, milk of choice and lemon/lime zest to the processor as well then blend until smooth. If using a blender, you will likely need a tamper stick, or use something like a rubber spatula to help it blend smooth. Feel free to also add a small amount of milk, if needed. Just be careful not to add too much or your sorbet will not have that creamy texture you’re looking for.
  • Transfer the mixture to a freezer safe container, I use a loaf pan,  then smooth it out with a spoon or spatula. Seal the airtight container and place in the freezer for about 4 hours. Sorbet should be firm enough to scoop . If it’s too firm, let it sit out for a little bit – 20-30 minutes to soften. Serve and enjoy!

Note:

If the peaches are firm, you should be able to use a peeler to peel them. If they are soft and ripe, then use a pairing knife to cut a cross at the bottom of the peach and then drop them in boiling water for 20-30 seconds. Transfer the peaches to a bowl with ice water to cool and then once cool, the skin should peel away easily. Halve and then remove the pit.
