What kind of milk can I use for this coffee creamer recipe?
You can use any milk, I typically use raw or whole milk, whichever I have on hand. However, if you are someone who prefers non-dairy milks, feel free to use what you like. Coconut milk, almond milk, oat milk, cashew milk, etc. will all work just fine, but remember that whatever milk you choose, it can alter the flavor from the original recipe!
How can I make this a non dairy creamer?
As I stated above, you can swap out the regular milk for a plant based milk of choice. As for the sweetened condensed milk goes, they have dairy free alternatives at the store that you can buy, or you can make your own sweetened condensed milk!
Options for your Ingredients:
Sweetened Condensed Milk – For this recipe you will only need 1 can of sweetened condensed milk. If you choose to make your own, you will need 1 1/4 cups of sweetened condensed milk, I typically make my own!
Pumpkin Puree -You can either used canned pumpkin puree or make your own, both will work.
Pumpkin Spice – I make my own homemade pumpkin pie spice, only because I typically already have the ingredients, and don’t keep pumpkin spice in the house all year long.
Vanilla Extract – The vanilla extract is optional, but I always add it, because it’s a nice addition to the flavorful deliciousness!
Ingredients
2 cups milk
1 1/4 cups or 1 can sweetened condensed milk
5 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon pumpkin spice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
Instructions
- In a saucepan, add in milk, sweetened condensed milk and pumpkin puree.
- Over medium heat whisk until all ingredients are combined.
- Once the mixture is warm, add the pumpkin spice and vanilla extract.
- Continue to cook for around 5-7 minutes (do not boil) this allows the mixture to infuse with the pumpkin spice.
- Remove from the heat.
- Once cooled, use a fine mesh strainer and pour the mixture into a jar.
- Use right away in your coffee or store in an airtight container
Notes
- Store your homemade pumpkin coffee creamer in the fridge for up to a week (sealed in a jar or airtight container).
- If you prefer something not as sweet, try using 1/2 a can of sweetened condensed milk with 1/2 cup heavy cream in place of the full amount of sweetened condensed milk. If you do it this way, it won’t be as thick, so keep that in mind.
- I use whole milk, but you can use any type of milk in this recipe.
- Top with some whipped cream, and sprinkle some pumpkin spice or ground cinnamon on top!
